What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

«Declare the past, diagnose the present, foretell the future.»
Hippocrates

Chinese Medicine is a very ancient type of medicine which includes not only acupuncture but also herbal medicine, cupping therapy, various massage techniques (gua sha, tui na, etc), a special diet and exercises.

The main idea of the TCM is that our world and everything in it connects with each other and exists in harmony and balance.

Any imbalance leads to a disease. A TCM practitioner using different methods can help you to reestablish harmony in your body, mind and life.

According to Chinese philosophy, our bodies consist of energies. These energies are contained in special vessels, meridians, which go through organs and provide energy to them. A TCM practitioner influences imbalanced organs or meridians via acupuncture points and brings them into harmony.

Unfortunately, the phenomenon of traditional chinese medicine hasn’t been proven yet, and as a believer in science I hope the way acupuncture works will be discovered.

Treating from the root

TCM helps to balance energy, find the root of the problem and treat it. That is why it is effective against a wide range of ailments.

  • Neurological conditions
  • Pain management
  • Women’s health
  • Emotional problems
  • Digestive issues
  • Aging

Acupuncture

Sterile thin needles are being inserted in special acupuncture points according to your diagnosis and current state.

This technique is very aincient, peolpe had used sticks and rice before needles invention and even then for a long time only rich could afford to use needles. There are historical records showing the use of different types of acupuncture not only in ancient China, but also in Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Egypt. In Europe acupuncture gained a new life after the Chinese revolution. Nowadays, this treatment is very popular and is recommended by the NHS and the WHO as an additional remedy for several diseases.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is widely used for treating muscle problems. There are vaccuum cups and fire cups, I use fire one. In any types the ,ain idea of cupping is to draw toxins to the skin surface, where the immune system is able to eleminate them. Also, by pulling muscles and fascia up, cups helps with tensed muscles and improves microcirculation.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an amazing massage tecknique, where a special tool is used to scrape the skin which improves blood circulation and breaks up scar tissue or any adhesions in the muscles and connective tissue. I use it as a prepearing for acupuncture, and do facial Gua sha massage.

Moxibustion

Moxas are used to warm and stimulate energy in acupuncture points. It helps to improve blood circulation to relieve any pain, warm the uterus if there is any cold and boosts energy.
